After graduating with a Master’s degree in Chemistry in 2001, and a PhD in the same subject from the University of Exeter in 2004, George worked in a post-doctoral research position at the University of Oslo for two years where he gained valuable insight and experience in chemical research, with a focus on intramolecular bonding.
Prior to joining ChampionX, George participated in an accelerated career development programme in production chemistry where he worked across different regions including Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. Following this, he acted as an internal consultant to support clients with flow assurance issues related to the deposition of waxes, asphaltenes and naphthenates.
George has held multiple roles within ChampionX since joining in 2011 as an account manager where he was responsible for the effectiveness of scale management programs, working with clients across the Norwegian and North Seas. He subsequently moved into a technical management role for Norway before, most recently, expanding his responsibilities to cover wider continental Europe.
He explained: “In my current position I play an active role in supporting our chemical treatment programs across the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This includes planning and deploying offshore field trials, troubleshooting production challenges, developing monitoring programs, and managing chemical selection projects.
“I enjoy the dynamic aspects of my job, having opportunities to travel frequently and meet clients, and presenting our innovations to customers. I’m involved in new fields as well as existing assets and also enjoy travelling offshore to support customers projects. Working with my team to provide solutions for our customers using our chemicals is very rewarding.”
In addition to his operational responsibilities, George is anmember of promoting the development of new technology. He is also a member of two of our employee resource groups - PRIDE and SEED – where he supports the business’ drive to building a sustainable and inclusive workforce.
