About Yolanda: Yolanda De-Abreu earned her B.S. in Materials Engineering from Simon Bolivar University (USB) in Venezuela in 1990. She obtained her master’s degree (1992) and Ph.D. (1995) at the National Polytechnic Institute in Toulouse, France. She worked for nine years (from 1995 to 2003) at the USB-Venezuela as a tenured professor, and she was coordinator of the Material Engineering Undergraduate Program for three years. She worked as a post-doc at Ohio University on a project for the generation of hydrogen from electrolysis of coal (2003-2005). From 2006-2010 she worked as a Metallurgy and Corrosion Consultant for Lloyd’s Register Capstone in Houston, TX. From 2010-2019 she worked as a Staff Scientist at Nalco Champion in the Asset Integrity and Diagnostic Solutions groups, where she provided her expertise in the evaluation of the compatibility between chemical products and metallurgies by using electrochemical techniques. Since 2019 she has been providing client support for failure analysis investigation at ChampionX as a Senior Staff Scientist. Yolanda is currently teaching a course for Mechanical Engineering graduate students at the University of Houston.
