Join The Journey

Oil Lift Technology driveheads are the workhorses of progressing cavity pumping, helping operators set performance and reliability standards in fields the world over – from North America to the Middle East, and from Latin America to Asia Pacific.

From humble beginnings commercializing prototype models in the early 2000s, Oil Lift’s two-decade progression culminated in delivering its 20,000th drivehead in spring 2023 ‒ a Model G2000 FLUID-LOCK™. It was manufactured with rigorous attention to quality assurance and control, and assembled and tested by some of the same skilled personnel who built Oil Lift’s earliest commercial models 20 years before . . . and who are building drivehead #21,250 and counting in 2024.

Follow every step of the 20,000th unit’s voyage from the manufacturing floor to the well site, and discover what sets Oil Lift driveheads apart in quality, durability, application engineering, and environmental protection.

In 2023, Oil Lift Technology Inc. achieved a significant milestone by manufacturing its 20,000th PCP drivehead.

The story behind drivehead #20,000 is partly about our people, technology, and global reach, but it’s mostly about our customers’ successes over the past two decades and how Oil Lift’s commitment to quality and consistency is helping them achieve operational goals.

Oil Lift Technology was started in 2000 in a residential garage in suburban Calgary. It prototyped its first drivehead later that same year. Van Nguyen, one of Oil Lift’s first employees, helped build some of the newly founded company’s earliest commercial units. Fast forward to 2023 and Nguyen, now shop floor supervisor at Oil Lift’s state-of-the-art facility, also had an instrumental hand in manufacturing drivehead #20,000.

Oil Lift’s 20,000th drivehead travelled last summer from the Calgary manufacturing plant to ChampionX’s Asia Pacific facility in Queensland, Australia, where it was prepared for delivery to a leading coal seam gas operator. As one of ChampionX’s largest and longest-served customers in the region, the operator’s representatives visited the Queensland shop to commemorate the arrival of drive #20,000 and plan for its installation in a CSG field.

At the same time that Oil Lift’s 20,000th manufactured drivehead was enroute to Australia for installation in a coal seam gas field, a drivehead that Oil Lift had manufactured in the early 2000s – the original Model H1800 – arrived at our Lloydminster service center for maintenance and a fresh coat of red and yellow paint. Two decades later and the H1800 #1 unit is still in service in a Canadian oil field, delivering time-tested value for the operator!

Completing the G2000’s 8,000-mile voyage from the Great White North to a wellsite in the Land Down Under, ChampionX’s Asia Pacific team installed drivehead #20,000 on a well in the Queensland Outback. Paired with an Oil Lift progressing cavity pump and forged steel body ROD-LOCK™ BOP, the system commenced operation in late 2023.

Manufacturing and delivering our 20,000th drivehead marks an important point in the Oil Lift Technology story . . . and it could not have been attained without the best customers and employees in the world.

But our sights are fixed on the next chapter and making sure the next drivehead we build is the best one we’ve ever built ‒ whether a belt, gear, or hydraulic drive model, including our new low-noise unit.

Our goal in 2024 and beyond remains that same as it was when we built our first drive in 2000:

  • We want every customer, no matter where they’re located around the globe, to recognize the Oil Lift logo as the universal mark of excellence

We’re ready to focus all our expertise, technology, people, experience, and global reach on one mission:

Delivering the exact drivehead solution your well application requires.
