On the evening of September 15, 2023, at 8:30 PM CST, a site glass broke at a production facility, resulting in a crude oil spill and over 90 kg/hr of methane escaping into the atmosphere. The SOOFIE® system, designed for real-time emissions monitoring, detected the increase in emissions and immediately alerted the operator through our Dashboard system.
Despite the late hour, an emergency response team was dispatched, reaching the facility within 90 minutes and successfully stopped the leak. The swift response not only averted a potential catastrophe but also prevented the continuous release of 90 kg of methane per hour.
