Best EOR Technology Award

ChampionX Emulsion Viscosity Reducer technology

With increasing focus on gaining greater recovery from mature producing assets, operators must find solutions to increase production of existing facilities at low cost using environmentally acceptable solutions.

To meet this need, ChampionX developed an Emulsion Viscosity Reducer (EVR), which is an environmentally acceptable, targeted, production chemical solution that reduces produced fluids viscosity and enables greater production rates when applied downhole. Our EVR offering, combined with a newly developed well suitability assessment digital model, maximizes operators’ return on investment with minimal capex investment.

ChampionX Excelceor technology

Excelceor is a game-changing EOR polymer flood technology, which supports the industry’s net-zero ambitions. It is the only shear-resistant polymer flooding EOR product on the market.

Shear degradation during injection causes conventional EOR polymer chains to break, reducing the viscosity per kg of polymer used. Until now, overdosing, up to ~70%, has been the only solution to achieve target viscosity. Additional product increases CO2 emissions through more manufacturing, logistics, and energy needs. Excelceor negates overdosing.

A case study evaluating Excelceor’s potential for a customer asset demonstrated chemical requirements were reduced by ~25,000 tons/year. That’s at least 1,300 metric tons of CO2 removed – the equivalent to 944 fewer cars on the road.

ChampionX Artificial Lift AFFIRMED™ PowerFit ESP Motor

UNBRIDLED ESP Systems’ AFFIRMED™ PowerFit motor helps you produce small-diameter unconventional wells that require an ESP system to achieve initial production rate targets. The AFFIRMED PowerFit motor – the industry’s first small-diameter motor designed specifically for challenging unconventional oil plays – features an advanced electromagnetic design that delivers optimal horsepower for wells completed with 5½-in. 20 lb or 23 lb casing. The AFFIRMED PowerFit  motor eliminates the limitations and reliability concerns associated with 4.56-in. OD and 3.75-in. OD ESP motors in smaller, heavy-wall casing.

ChampionX onshore sustainability technologies

At ChampionX, we’re leveraging products, services, digital platforms, and technical expertise to help customers responsibly maximize their operations, and we have shifted the focus of our innovations toward developing new tools and programs centered around sustainability.

In support of these efforts, we developed an internal methodology to calculate the carbon footprint for our chemical offerings. The approach calculates the associated carbon emissions produced across all stages of our chemical products, from manufacturing to logistics, while also calculating the positive impact the products have on production processes. This system enables us to quantify the total lifecycle impact of our programs and understand how to reduce this effectively.

Developed in-house, our remote-access Technical Excellence & Account Management Support (TEAMS) center and Digital Remote Expert Access Manager (DREAM) mobile app connect our in-field personnel with technical experts anywhere in the world via traditional audio-visual tools and the latest augmented reality technology. These tools have substantially reduced the need for personnel to travel to the site to problem solve, which has directly improved safety, minimized risk, and increased efficiency for both our customers and our business. In the past twelve months, these capabilities have been instrumental in reducing our carbon emissions by 372.5 metric tons.
