Conformance Improvement

Poor conformance is a problem that plagues most operators of water and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) floods. ChampionX conformance improvement solutions focus on correcting reservoir-dominated features that limit sweep efficiency. Our Bulk Gel Technology is applied on the injection side and is designed to correct the following issues:

  • Communication between injector and producers through a high permeability streak, natural, or induced fractures
  • Out-of-zone injection
  • Direct communication from wormholes or matrix bypass events connecting producers to injectors in unconsolidated reservoirs

Water Shut-Off

Excess water production is a common problem in waterdrive oil and gas reservoirs, resulting in high water-cuts and operational expenses. ChampionX Bulk Gel Technology is placed in the offending water flow paths to block the subsequent flow of water through those zones while maintaining or increasing oil production. The best candidates for water shut-off are wells with:

  • Natural water drive reservoirs
  • High water-cuts
  • High fluid levels which are the best candidates to observe significant oil rate increases
  • Sufficient remaining mobile oil reserves
  • Water and oil flowing to the wellbore through different paths (i.e. fracture vs. matrix)

Sand Control and Clay Stabilization

ChampionX sand control technology is a novel chemical solution designed to minimize sand production and the associated constraint of hydrocarbon flow by increasing the rock strength. Our clay control technology offers a variety of high performing products to prevent formation damage and consequent permeability reduction caused by clay minerals. These chemistries address clay swelling and fines migration, thus preventing loss of production and remediation expenses.
